December 2, 2003 DVS Partnership with Imagitas Pays off in Customer Service and Savings ST. PAUL - An innovative partnership between the Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services Division (DVS) and the Imagitas Corporation is helping state government become more efficient and improve customer service. Two years ago the Massachusetts-based firm was awarded a contract for the production of Minnesota vehicle registration renewal notices. The profits from advertising in the notice packets are shared with DVS. On Tuesday, Public Safety Commissioner Rich Stanek and Imagitas CEO Brett Matthews announced results of the partnership to date - $138,000 in profit-sharing income, lower costs for DVS and improved service for citizens. Pat McCormack, DVS acting director, said that savings from reduced printing and mailing costs helped to finance development of Web-based service and automated processing systems. Customer friendly mailing materials developed by Imagitas, combined with new DVS online services, have resulted in a 125 percent increase in mail and Internet tab renewals. "Automated processing has decreased turn-around time to less than one week. Customers appreciate that," McCormack said. Stanek indicated that DPS plans to continue its partnership with Imagitas. "This progressive partnership has proven to be beneficial, and we intend to develop it further," he said. Matthews noted that Minnesota's Driver and Vehicle Services was the first motor vehicle agency in the nation to launch this type of public-private agreement. "Imagitas now has similar agreements with other states, but Minnesota led the way. We're proud to be involved in this partnership," he said. DVS handles more than 5 million vehicle transactions annually, collecting nearly a billion dollars in state revenue in the process.
